Ingredients

  • 2 pounds flank steak, sliced thinly against the grain
  • 4 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooked rice for serving


Instructions

  1. Prepare the Beef: Slice the flank steak thinly against the grain and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Mix the Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, beef broth, minced garlic, ginger, and sesame oil.
  3. Combine in the Crockpot: Place beef in the crockpot and pour the sauce over it. Stir to coat the beef evenly.
  4. Slow Cook: Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until the beef is tender.
  5. Add Broccoli: About 30 minutes before serving, stir in the broccoli florets. If using the cornstarch mixture for thickening, add it at this point and stir well.
  6. Serve: Spoon the beef and broccoli over cooked rice and enjoy your hearty meal.
